The standard we hold
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. It is the standard most accessibility law points to, and it covers the things that matter in practice: text you can read, controls you can reach with a keyboard or a screen reader, nothing that depends on colour alone, and layouts that hold up when the text gets bigger.
This page says what meets it today and what does not yet. We would rather tell you about a gap than have you find it.
This website
kihonhq.com was checked on 27 September 2026: every page, in light and dark themes, with and without high contrast, at desktop and phone widths. We ran automated WCAG 2.2 checks and tested keyboard use, form labels, and zoomed layouts by hand. Every issue found was fixed that day.
The settings button in the corner of every page lets you choose:
- Light, dark, or automatic theme
- Larger text, in two steps
- High contrast
- Reduced motion, which stops every animation on the site
- English or Danish
These are preferences, not a fix. The site is built to meet the standard with all of them switched off, and it also follows the reduced motion and dark mode settings on your device.
Kihon Staff, for iPhone and iPad
- Larger Text. Every text size in your device settings, up to the largest accessibility sizes.
- Dark Interface. Follows your device, or choose light or dark in the app.
- Reduced motion. Loading placeholders stop moving when Reduce Motion is on.
Not there yet: VoiceOver. Some buttons and icons are not yet described in words, so we do not claim VoiceOver support until we have gone through the app screen by screen.
Kihon Portal, for families
- Larger Text. Every text size in your device settings. At the largest accessibility sizes the billing, schedule, training, and account screens rearrange so nothing is cut off.
- Dark Interface. Follows your device, or choose light or dark in the app.
- Reduced motion. Loading placeholders stop moving when Reduce Motion is on.
Not there yet: VoiceOver, the same work as Kihon Staff. Kihon Portal also runs in a browser, which can be easier with some assistive technology.
The Kihon app in your browser
The app schools run their day on is held to the same standard. It has not had a full audit yet, so there will be gaps. If a screen gets in your way, tell us and it moves to the front of the queue.
