Send a deletion request using the email address on the account, and say which school you are with. We confirm within one business day and complete it within thirty days.
First, which account do you mean?
Kihon holds two different kinds of account and they delete differently, so it is worth being clear about which one you have.
A staff account
You work at a school that uses Kihon and it issued you an account. Deleting it removes your sign-in, your profile, your preferences, and the devices you registered for notifications.
What stays: the record that work was done. If you ticked a duty, took a payment, or signed off a grading, that entry keeps your name on it. Those are your school's operational records, not yours to remove, and quietly rewriting who did what would make the audit trail worthless to the school and to any family who ever disputes something.
A family or member account
Your child trains at a school that uses Kihon, or you do. Your membership record, attendance, rank, and billing history belong to the school, not to Kihon. We hold them on the school's behalf. So the fastest route is to ask your school directly: they can remove records we cannot remove for them without being asked.
You can still write to us and we will act on it, but the first thing we do is contact your school, so going to them yourself saves a step.
What we delete
- Your sign-in and authentication records.
- Your profile: name, contact details, photo, and anything you entered about yourself.
- Notification tokens for every device you registered, so nothing can reach your phone afterwards.
- Any encrypted health or medical note held against you, along with the key material that made it readable.
Deleted means deleted. We do not deactivate an account, freeze it, or park it somewhere out of sight and call that removal.
What has to be kept, and why
Two things survive deletion, and both are for your protection as much as ours:
- Financial records. Payments, refunds, and invoices are business records that tax law requires us and your school to retain. They keep the amount and the date. They stop being linked to a live account.
- Signed documents. A waiver or an agreement you signed is evidence that somebody accepted a risk before training on a given day. Destroying it on request would remove the only proof either side has. It is retained as the document it is, and never used for anything else.
Everything else goes.
Take your data with you first
Export is free, unlimited, and one click, and it always has been. If there is anything you want, take it before you ask us to delete: afterwards there is nothing left to send you. A school owner can export from the app at any time. Anyone else can ask us and we will produce it.
How long it takes
| We confirm | Within one business day, so you know a person has it. |
|---|---|
| We complete | Within thirty days, usually the same week. |
| Backups | Encrypted backups roll off on their own schedule, within ninety days. Nothing is restored from them into a live system. |
