Tell us these things and most problems are solved in the first reply: which school you are with, the name of the person the question is about, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. The app's version number is at the bottom of the Account screen, and it helps.
Signing in
There is no password
That is on purpose. You type your email, we send a code, and the code signs you in. It works once and expires in an hour. There is nothing to remember and nothing to reset.
The code did not arrive
Check the spam folder first, then check that the email you typed is the one your school has for you. The app cannot tell you whether an address is known, because that would let a stranger find out who is a member here. If your school has a different address for you, they can change it in a moment.
The code was refused
Each code can be used once and lasts an hour, so an older email in the thread will not work even though it looks fine. Ask for a fresh one from the sign-in screen. If the newest code is still refused, write to us.
I do not have an account
There is no signup inside the app, because being a family at a school is something the school records rather than something a stranger claims. Ask your school to add your email to your family, and the app will let you in straight after.
I can see my child but not myself, or the other way round
The app shows the people your school has linked to you. If somebody is missing, or somebody is there who should not be, your school fixes that on their side and it appears the next time you open the app.
Notifications
I am not getting any
Three things have to be true. In Account, Notify this device is on and the kind you want has not been switched off. In iOS, Kihon has not been blocked (Settings, then Notifications, then Kihon).
I get them on my phone but not my iPad
Correct, and intended. Notifications are per device, so a phone can buzz while a tablet at home stays quiet.
Can I turn off some without turning off all of them?
Yes. Once notifications are on for the device, Account grows a switch per kind, so you can keep messages from the school and decline the rest. Those are per device too.
What you see, and what you can change
Something in our records looks wrong
Attendance, rank, the schedule and the billing lines are your school's records, held by us on their behalf. So a correction starts with your school: they can change it, and we will not change a school's records without them asking. If a bill looks wrong, the whole ledger is in the app so you can point at the exact line.
What can I change myself?
You can take somebody off a child's pickup list, change what you have said yes and no to, save the card that pays for the membership, and set how this device notifies you. Adding somebody to a pickup list is done at the desk, and so is everything else.
Why can I not remove a parent from the pickup list?
Parents and guardians are always on their own child's list and the app will not offer to remove them, because at the door that is a real decision with real consequences. Anybody else, a grandmother or a neighbour or a friend, you can take off the list yourself with a swipe. Putting somebody on it is done at the desk, so that a name is only ever added by a person your school has spoken to.
Money
Is the app free?
Yes, to you. Your school pays for Kihon and families are never charged for the app, per person or otherwise.
Where does my card go?
Onto our payment provider's own page, which the app opens in a browser sheet. Kihon never sees or stores your card number, and neither does your school. The app only learns that a card was saved and which four digits it ends with.
Can I cancel a membership here?
Not in the app today. Cancelling and pausing are on the same portal in a browser, the one your school's link opens, and both ask for a fresh code first. They are consequential enough to deserve a screen that can explain what is about to happen.
Your account and your data
Your school controls its own records, so a request to change or remove something in them starts with your school. To have your family account and the data tied to it deleted, use the account deletion request page, which explains what goes and what has to stay. Kihon's full handling of both is in the Privacy Policy.
