Tell us three things and most problems are solved in the first reply: your school's name, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. The app's version number is at the bottom of the Account screen, and it helps.
Signing in
I do not have an account
Your school issues staff accounts, so there is no signup inside the app. Ask whoever runs your Kihon: they add you from the team screen and you get an invite by email. If you are the owner and cannot find it, write to us.
My invite code expired
Codes are short-lived on purpose. You can send yourself a fresh one from the sign-in screen without waiting for anybody.
It says my session expired and keeps asking me to sign in
Usually the app could not reach the network when it tried to refresh. Walk somewhere with signal and open the app again, which is enough on its own. If it keeps happening on good wifi, write to us with your school name.
Notifications
I am not getting any
Three things have to be true, and they are all in Account: Notify this device is on, iOS has not been told to block Kihon (Settings, then Notifications, then Kihon), and the tab that owns the notification is not hidden.
I turned off a tab and the alerts stopped
That is deliberate. Hiding a tab on a device also mutes its notifications on that device, because a buzz about a screen you cannot open is not useful. Turn the tab back on in Account and the alerts come back. The notifications you missed are still on the web app's bell, because hiding one never deletes the record.
I get them on my phone but not my iPad, or the other way round
Correct, and intended. Notifications are per device, so you can have the phone in your pocket buzzing and the iPad in the office quiet.
Calls
Calling uses my personal number
Change it in Account, under Call using. If your work calling app is not on the list, choose "Copy the number": tapping call puts the number on the clipboard, ready to paste into whichever app you use. That option works with every app, including the ones iOS will not let Kihon open directly.
Why can I not pick my calling app from the list?
An app can only open another app that publishes a way to be opened, and many work calling apps do not. We will not offer an option that looks like it works and quietly does nothing, so anything on that list really works and everything else goes through copy and paste.
The day's work
A duty is on my sheet that is not mine
Duties can belong to everyone, to a role, or to a named person. A duty assigned to a role appears once and anyone wearing that role can tick it, so seeing it does not mean it is exclusively yours. The recurring list itself is edited on the web.
My completion percentage looks wrong
Kihon never scores a day the school was closed, and never invents a deadline nobody set. A quiet Sunday has no score rather than a zero, so it does not drag your average down.
Leads
Can I add an inquiry from my phone?
Yes. The plus button on the Leads tab is a ten second capture: a name and one way to reach them is enough, and the rest can be filled in later at the desk. The full guided intake stays on the web and the lobby iPad, where somebody is sitting down.
Why can I not mark somebody won or lost here?
Marking a lead won creates a member, a household, and the start of billing. That belongs on a screen that can show you what it is about to do. You can move somebody along the pipeline from the phone, in both directions.
Your account and your data
Your school controls its own records, so a request to change or remove something in them starts with your school. To have your staff account and the data tied to it deleted, use the account deletion request page. Kihon's full handling of both is in the Privacy Policy.

Write to us. We aim to answer within one business day, and faster when something is actually broken.
